NaNoWriMo Day 3

Words written: 1,967
Total word count: 5,410/50,000

I passed the 1/10th mark of the goal word count for my NaNoWriMo novel! Words are starting to flow a lot more easily now that I have background out of the way. I want to be able to bang out a few more chapters, but I've got to rest sometime, and I think that if you put too much effort into it at one time, the ideas you thought were great end up sounding pretty stupid after a good night's rest. For now a satisfying mini-goal has been reached. In college I would have cringed at the thought of writing a 5,000 word paper. Now I've written 5,400 words in 3 days and didn't blink an eye. I am impressed with myself so far, we'll see how long this keeps up. I'm posting all of this stuff because it will motivate me to keep going, if anything because I don't want to look like an idiot for starting something and not being able to finish.

Wow, man, good luck. If I had enough time to sit down and write every day like that, I totally would. When you finish, send me a copy.

@vwagenjetta -

Heh.... I wish I had time to sit down and write every day too. I usually end up putting down my ideas during the day in notes, and then expounding upon them at night when I'm sitting around with my family. Lately I've been found with a laptop on my lap, typing away while watching a show or talking to my parents. It's not the most productive way to write, but it's better than nothing. I end up carrying it on into the late hours of the night, like 12:00 or 1:00. I do my best writing then anyway. My days are filled with too many computers to fix to be able to sit and write like I want to.

I'll send you a copy when I'm done. December is for editing, so right now all I have is an extremely raw copy of the novel. It will be at least January before anything polished comes out. I think you'll like it, it's very sci-fi and has some of my more geeky thoughts involving the future of computing.
